A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to a Temple...

Well at last the rain stopped. Well for a few hours anyway. I took the risk and dashed out of the hotel to hunt for the temples and monuments of Nakhom. I thought at the first I would have my first swin of my travels. Well, it really was not a swim and less out of choice. It was more a uncontrollable dive into a puddle.

If you look in this photo of a monument, you may notice a huge puddle in front of it. I also did notice it. I walked across it to take a close up but I forgot about it on the way back and aquaplaned part of the way then gracefully landed on my arse in the aforementioned puddle. This aforementioned puddle was rapidly reclassified a mini lake on landing – ‘amerissage’ to be precise, As I had not witnesses, I had no feedback on the quality of my acrobatics. A shame. After managing to avoid getting soaked directly by the Thai monsoon for 4 days, I managed to get soaked indirectly and that is a feat. I must say that jeans can soak in a lot of water in a short time! Wet jeans & t-shirt I can cope with but unfortunately I was holding my camera. You guessed it, it also joined me in the mini lake. Luckily it did not get damage. However some moisture did get into the lens. Until the moisture is fully removed, as the lens heats up the moisture turns into a fine mist – it give an a rain affect in every photo. So perfect for Britain but useless everywhere else – no photo can be taken. I just need to wait until it fully drys out. Until then, these are the last photo taken. Sadly, It does not include some of the great temples I have seen since.

Whilst I am on the subject of cameras and photos, I realised that as yet I have not given due credit for the photos of India & Nepal. I did take a few photos but Kia took a lot more - I mean a lot more. Over 80% of the photos were taken by Kia. And what a great job. Kia has the eye for a great photo. Cheers Kia and I hope I will be able to keep the high standard going during the rest of my travels – depending on the lens drying of course...

I dont suppose the locals have CCTV cameras around and could be prevailed upon to provide a video of you aquaplaning into a puddle could they????

Sounded like the weather in the south was perfect for a rain effect lens on the camera!!!
