Dalat - a little corner of the French Alpes. 17th January

I am so behind with the posts!!!!! The quality of the writing has suffered - or more likely the quantity of the writing has suffered. (This is not one of my best)

I have just arrived in Hong Kong from Hanoi. I sadly left my travelling companions - Ceci, Alex & Nora - for the past 3/4 weeks in Hanoi. The 3 Swiss were heading for Laos.

Now back to the 16th January...

We travelled overnight by bus from HCMC to Dalat - it was a not a sleeper bus - arriving in the early morning. I mean early morning. 5.30am!!! We stumbled into the nearest Guest House, negotiated the price of a room and collapsed.

Dalat is situated in the Central Highlands, and the city was established - or expanded - by the French to remind them of the Alps. A place to come in the summer to escape the stifling heat of the lowlands. ie HCMC et al. When we dragged ourselves out of bed and explored the city. We spent only one day in Dalat. The country side around Dalat is what it is all about. And the following 2 days Léna was like 'Easy Rider'...

I should state that the photos in the Vietnam posts is a collective effort. They include photos from Ceci, Alex & Nora.

Nice to see the English aren't the only ones to choose to leave the mother country, settle somewhere completely different and then work to recreate the country they chose to leave!!!!

Pics look great as ever mate. Enjoy Hong Kong
